John Leo, 75 of Louisville passed away Saturday March 16th, 2013 at Baptist Health with his family by his side.

John was a graduate of Louisville Male & Girls High School 1955, University of Louisville, Bachelor of Arts 1959, and the University of Louisville Medical School 1963, served his Intern Residency at the Detroit Receiving Hospital 1963-1964, Surgery Residency 1964-1965 and OBGYN residency 1964-1968 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force, Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base Kansas City, Missouri 1968-1970, where he was an OBGYN. Started his private practice July 16th, 1970 with Starr, Solomon, Oldham & Bryant. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon at the University of Louisville 1955, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society 1961, Phi Kappa Phi 1963, and American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1973. He received the Ethan McDowell Award 1969, and was President of Medical Staff at Baptist East in 1992. John was also an avid bicycling enthusiast, he rode his bicycle many places, including Scotland, England, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada and the United States. One of his greatest bicycling achievements was a 5 month, 8500 mile trip around the perimeter of the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Black Hollinsworth and Leonora Labrash Hollinsworth.
John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jane Zanger Hollinsworth, children, John Steven Hollinsworth (Sherri), Jeffrey Lee Hollinsworth (Kristi) and Todd Allen Hollinsworth (Paige), grandchildren, John Hollinsworth, Nichole Hollinsworth, Trevor Hollinsworth, Justin Hollinsworth, Jake Hollinsworth, Kayla Hollinsworth and Trent Hollinsworth, brother, Craig Hollinsworth, one nephew and three nieces.

John's funeral service will be 10:00am, Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at Ratterman's 12900 Shelbyville Rd. with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery to follow.

Visitation will be 1 to 4 and 5 to 9 Tuesday, March 19th, 2013 at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to Leukemia Society in lieu of flowers.
